CLERMONT, Fla. - The Benedictine University softball team scored four runs in the second inning to defeat Bethany College 4-2 and then turned around to take a 7-0 lead over No. 13 Tufts University before the Jumbos scored 10 runs in the late innings to win 10-7.
Erin Kotlarz tallied two hits in the Eagles win while
Amanda Straka delivered a three-run homer, the first of the season, in the fourth to push Benedictine to a win.
Melissa Guzior received the win for BenU, allowing seven hits with one strikeout and zero earned runs.
In game two, the Eagles came out swining, tallying one run in the first inning and four runs in the second inning. Benedictine's scoring woudld stop in the third after two more runs to take a 7-0 lead while Tufts bats came alive. Trailing 7-4, the Jumbos tallied six runs in the sixth inning and defeated BenU 10-7.
Kailee Cable and
Kelly Mieszala were both 2-3 while
Sarah Koch was 2-4.
The Eagles leave Florida witha 4-6 overall record.
