LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University baseball team swept MSOE in a conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.

Game One: Benedictine 9, MSOE 1
After scoring a run in the first inning, Benedictine gained separation with a five-run fifth and cruised to a 9-1 win behind the arm of Kevin Crowley.

Kevin Hendricks put Benedictine ahead with an RBI single to score his brother Tim in the bottom of the first to open the scoring. The Eagles batted around in the fifth to take control. Nick Karakosta recorded a sacrifice fly to open the scoring in the frame. John Cervantes tallied a two-run double with Ryan Mullin posting an RBI single and Mike Loni an RBI groundout in the frame.

MSOE plated its lone run in the top of the sixth but Benedictine came back with two more in the bottom of the frame to jump ahead 8-1 on a two-run double from Karakosta, the conference leader in doubles. Karakosta would add a sacrifice fly for the final run.

Crowley worked seven innings to up his record to 4-1 on the season, striking out four. Matt Vucovich tossed the final two frames. Tim Hendricks finished 3-for-4 while Mike Loni and Kevin Hendricks also added a pair of hits in the victory.

Game Two: Benedictine 4, MSOE 3
For the 13th time this season, Benedictine overcame a deficit to post a win. The Eagles put themselves in a 3-0 hole but were able to recover and save the bullpen with a gutsy complete game from Pat Cashman.

Cashman threw over 150 pitches in the win and did not allow an earned run in the complete game, striking out seven. Cashman loaded the bases with no outs on the ninth but did not allow the tying run to score.

MSOE opened a 3-0 lead with a three-run second. Benedictine did its damage in the fifth, scoring four times to earn the win. Tim Hendricks lifted a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded to open the scoring. Karakosta struck a double to score two runs, tying the game. Kevin Hendricks posted the game winning hit, a single through the right side to score Karakosta.

Karakosta, who has reached base in every game this season, was the only player for the Eagles to log more than one hit in the contest. The senior currently owns an 11-game hitting streak. John Cervantes extended his streak to 12 games with hits in both contests.

Benedictine (17-6, 7-3) travels to Dominican on Sunday for a doubleheader. Dominican plays home games at Boomers Stadium in Schaumburg, home of the Frontier League's Schaumburg Boomers.
