The Benedictine University baseball team rode solid pitching on the way to a sweep of Concordia University Wisconsin in a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon when the senior class was celebrated.

BENEDICTINE 9, CUW 1 - Game One
Mike Irgang was solid on the hill, allowing just a single earned run in seven innings of work, and Benedictine set the tone with a pair of first inning runs.

Irgang extended his scoreless streak to 13.2 innings before allowing a two-out run in the sixth. Irgang improved to 3-0 on the season and struck out six in the contest. Cristian Ochoa retired the final six batters including three via strikeout.

Benedictine posted three consecutive hits to open the game, taking the lead rapidly. Time Hendricks led off with a single and Nick Karakosta doubled. Kevin Hendricks put Benedictine ahead and Ryan Mullin collected an RBI single.

Four runs in the bottom of the fourth extended the lead to 6-0 as the Eagles batted around. Tim Hendricks, Nick Karakosta, Kevin Hendricks, and John Cervantes all drove home runs in the frame.

Benedictine posted 13 hits in the win. The top four batters in the lineup all registered multiple hits.

BENEDICTINE 7, CUW 1
The first inning again set the tone and Chris Jordan did the rest in helping Benedictine to a sweep.

Jordan tossed seven shutout innings, retiring the final 10 batters faced. Tim Hendricks led off the game with a single and Karakosta followed with a double. Kevin Hendricks put Benedictine ahead and the second run scored on a wild pitch.

Benedictine broke the game open with a four-run sixth. Tom Higgins logged an RBI single as part of five straight singles. Chris Wanderling and Tim Hendricks also recorded RBI singles in the frame. Tim Hendricks posted four hits at the top of the order.

Cervantes extended his hitting streak to 18 games with Karakosta distancing his to 17. Karakosta has reached in every game this season. Kevin Hendricks saw his hitting streak come to an end at 11 games.

Benedictine (22-7, 12-4) will welcome Wheaton in a non-conference contest on Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m.
