LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University men's lacrosse team finished a busy weekend with an 18-2 defeat to Aurora in a makeup game.
Aurora scored the first eight goals of the contest, opening the scoring less than three minutes into the affair. The contest held at 1-0 until the visitors netted two goals in just seven seconds inside six minutes left in the first.
Robert Abbott scored both goals for Benedictine, striking off a feed from
Rudy Berg with 8:03 left in the second for his first. Benedictine trailed 10-1 at the half. Abbott's 22nd of the season occurred early in the fourth to account for the final tally.
Jeffrey Smitheram stopped 17 shots in goal for Benedictine. Aurora held a 56-19 edge in shots.
The contest was a makeup from an originally scheduled game that was rained out on Wednesday.
Benedictine (6-8, 4-4) will host Augustana on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m.
