Eagles Split With Stars, Tally 17 Runs in Nightcap

LISLE, Ill. - Despite dropping a 2-0 first game to Dominican University, the Benedictine University softball team 19 hits to defeat the Stars 17-0 in the nightcap.

Benedictine (20-12, 16-4 NAC) struggled offensively in game one, tallying just three hits. Guzior recorded three strikeouts and allowed five hits and just one earned run as the Eagles fell 2-0.

The bats came alive for the Eagles in game two as they scored nine runs in the second inning off of six hits and two Dominican (23-9, 15-3 NAC) errors. In the inning, Ashley Parrott picked up her first homerun, a two RBI smash to center field.

In the third, Kailee Cable led of the BenU hitting with a double to left center field and the rest of the team followed, tallying seven hits in the inning.

The Eagles tallied two more runs in the fourth to take home the 17-0 victory.

On the mound, Parrott had four strikeouts and allowed just three hits in 5.0 innings. Eight Eagles recorded a hit in the win in cluding Chelsea White who was 2-3 with a run scored and Erin Kotlarz who was 3-4 with an RBI and run scored.

Cable, Kelly Mieszala and Parrott all had two hits while Amanda Straka was a perfect 4-4 with three runs scored. Alex Daviera had four RBI on three hits.

The Eagles are back in action on Tuesday afternoon when they host Wheaton College at 3:00 p.m. at the Sports Complex.
