LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University baseball team was swept in a doubleheader by Edgewood at home on Saturday, never leading in either contest.
Edgewood took advantage of miscues in both contests to pull away as Benedictine posted 13 errors combined. The visiting Eagles struck for three runs in the top of the first in the first game and never trailed. Benedictine pulled within 3-2 before Edgewood tacked on two in the ninth and held off a late rally for the win.
Kevin Crowley threw a complete game in the opener, his first complete game of the season. The lefty allowed just two earned runs in the defeat, striking out four. Benedictine lost despite holding Edgewood to just five hits.

Mike Loni each posted two hits in the defeat.
The second game saw Edgewood jump in front by an 8-0 count, chasing starter
Pat Cashman in the third. The bullpen shut the door, allowing the hosts an opportunity to rally. Benedictine plated two runs in the third, three in the fourth, and three in the fifth to tie the contest. Edgewood scored four unearned runs in the ninth to grab control and held off Benedictine in the bottom of the frame despite bringing the tying run to the plate.
Nick Mishevich tossed 3.1 innings and allowed just an unearned run out of the pen. Mike Taccona,
Chris Jordan, and
Spencer Lehmann all did not allow an earned run out of the pen either.
Edgewood slashed 19 hits in the second contest, just two of which were for extra bases. Benedictine slapped 10 hits with both of the Hendricks brothers collecting a pair.
Benedictine (14-6, 5-3) will play Elmhurst on the road Thursday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. in non-conference action.
