Softball Sweeps MSOE in Doubleheader

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 The Benedictine softball team was able to win both games of Saturday's Northern Athletics Conference doubleheader over the Milwaukee School of Engineering (2-10, 0-4), as the Eagles (7-9, 3-1) topped the Raiders 15-0 and 10-2, both in five innings.

In game one, the Eagles were able to jump ahead early with a five-run first inning followed by a seven-run second. Behind five innings of four hit ball from Melissa Guzior, Benedictine held the big lead for the rest of the game and went onto win in five innings 15-0.

At the plate, the Eagles showed great patience by working 14 walks in the game. Kelly Mieszala had one of her best games of the season, going 3-for-3 with a double, triple, two runs and three RBIs.

Game two was a bit different for BenU, as the Raiders were the team to jump out to the early lead by scoring runs in the second and third innings. However, Benedictine would put runs on the board in the third, fourth, and fifth innings to win the game 10-2.

Mieszala continued her strong day by going 2-for-3 while scoring two runs. Erin Kotlarz was able to set the table in the leadoff spot by going 3-for-4 with three runs scored. Melissa Stoch also went 2-for-2 with two RBI. On the mound, Kelly Loy moved to 3-1 on the year, going five innings and giving up two runs while striking out five.

Softball takes the field next on Sunday, as they'll travel to Concordia-Wisconsin for another NAC doubleheader beginning at 12:00 p.m.
