MILWAUKEE, Wis. - In their first game of the Northern Athletics Conference Tournament, the Benedictine University softball team blanked Dominican University, 8-0, on Thursday night at Alverno Field.
Kailee Cable, who was just named the NAC Freshman of the Year, homered in the first inning to give Benedictine (25-12) the 1-0 lead.
After scoring a run in each of the next two innings, the Eagles scored four runs in the fifth to secure the wine.
Chelsea White led off the frame with a walk followed by a bunt single from
Erin Kotlarz. Kotlarz would later score on a wild pitch and back-to-back singles from
Amanda Straka and
Eryn Pondo gave BenU the 8-0 win.
The Eagles tallied seven hits in the game including a double from
Ashley Parrott.
Melissa Guzior picked up her 13th win of the year, allowing just four hits in 6.0 innings with one strikeout.
Benedictine will take on the winner of #1 Aurora University and #5 Concordia University-Wisconsin on Friday evening at 5:00 p.m. at Alverno Field.
