FOND du LAC, Wis. - The Benedictine University women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 contest at Marian on Saturday.
Marian scored twice on the first three shots of the contest to open a 2-0 lead less than 13 minutes into the match.
Jackie Elzakhem attempted a quick counter but her shot in the 15th minute was stopped. Second half attempts were hard to come by. Elzakhem had another chance in the 72nd minute blocked. Marian added the final goal in the 77th minute.
"These early goals we are giving up because of slow starts have to be avoided," head coach
Mike Boland said. "It's taxing to continually try and come back, especially since we are gifting teams chances. We will chin up, learn, and work not to make the same mistakes again."
Marian finished with a 20-4 edge in shots. Elzakhem logged two for Benedictine.
Maddie Frye and
Amanda Lozada split time in goal. Lozada made nine saves in nearly 51 minutes of action.
Benedictine (4-13-1, 2-7 NACC) concludes the season with a contest at Alverno on Tuesday afternoon.
