Despite dropping the first set to Milwaukee School of Engineering, the Benedictine University women's volleyball team went on to win the next three sets to defeat MSOE 3-1 on Friday night in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference action.
The win kept the Eagles undefeated in conference action (4-0) and moved them up to 6-15 on the year.
In the first set, BenU let an early lead slip away as MSOE squeeked out a 25-23 win. The Raiders kept their momentum in the second set, taking an early lead but four straight points including one ace from
Caitlyn Martin gave BenU the push they needed.
Erin Wiegand,
Abby Screnock and
Emily Chitwood traded skills to give BenU a 25-22 win.
After taking an early 9-2 advantage, Benedictine allowed MSOE to slowly make their way back into the game, coming within two, 19-17 until kills from Chitwood,
Keriann Groen and an ace from
Molly Morley secured the 25-20 win for BenU.
Benedictine would once again take an early lead and never look back, taking the fifth set 25-20.
"I am really proud of all of our girls tonight," said head coach
Jennifer Wildes. "Whether they were on the sideline or on the court, the win tonight took all of us".
