MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Benedictine University women's basketball team won a key conference road game at MSOE 66-52 on Saturday.
Benedictine set the tone from the outset, scoring the first four points of the game on buckets from
Kam Haifleigh and
Nicole Botich. The lead quick reached seven and stretched to nine at 14-5 just over six minutes into the game. Benedictine scored nine straight to move in front 23-9 with 6:57 left in the half.
Meghan Novak hit a late jumper to make the advantage 37-19 going into the locker room. MSOE made only four first half field goals while Benedictine shot over 50 percent in the half.
MSOE made headway in the second half but could pull no closer than eight points the entire half. The final time MSOE pulled within eight points came with just under five minutes to play. Benedictine responded to every push by the hosts, holding on for the key decision.
Novak led four players in double figures with 20 points.
Vincenza Ranallo added 13 with Haifleigh and
Michelle Gaede collecting 10 apiece. Benedictine forced 20 turnovers, resulting in 26 points.
Benedictine (9-12, 9-7) travels to Dominican on Wednesday night.
