After a 4-3 loss to Framingham, the Benedictine University softball team defeated Carroll University 5-2 in the nightcap.
Despite taking an early 1-0 lead in the first, Framingham came back in the second to tie it. Both teams remained scoreless for the next two innings until Benedictine tallied two runs off a
Shannon Fritsche double.
Framingham answered right back with two runs of their own in the sixth to even the score. Framingham scored in the top of the seventh and the Eagles could not respond, falling 4-3.
Erin Kotlarz was 3-4 in the game with two runs scored while
Sarah Koch was 2-4 with one RBI.
In the second game,
Melissa Guzior picked up her second win of the season, allowing seven hits with five strikeouts in 7.0 innings.
Both teams were scoreless through two innings until the BenU bats came alive including hits from Koch and Fritsch.
Kailee Cable knocked in two runs with a double down the left field line and
Holly Haberkorn sacrificed the final run of the inning.
Carroll came within one in the fifth inning, scoring two runs but the Eagles secured their victory with two runs in the seventh on a two-run single from Haberkorn.
Koch was 3-4 with two runs and Haberkorn was 1-3 with three RBI.
The Eagles are back at it again on Thursday morning when they take on Hope College at 10:00 am EST and Springfield College at 12:00 pm EST.
