LEESBURG, Florida-- The Benedictine University baseball team dropped two games at the hands of sixteenth-ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater on Thursday, falling 11-5 and 17-3 at Pat Thomas Stadium in Leesburg, Florida.
In game one, Whitewater jumped out to an 8-0 lead off BenU stater
Ryan Rickert before the Eagles scored four in the top of the fifth.
Justin Kovalsky drove in a run on an RBI double, and one batter later,
Tim Hendricks hit a three-run home run, which was the Eagles' first of the season. The Warhawks would score three more before BenU added an additional run on a
Kevin Hendricks sacrafice fly in the seventh.
Mike Ostrowski was the only Eagle to record more than one hit in the contest, and
Tyler Floyd added a double.
Game two featured UW-Whitewater starting fast once again, as the Warhawks scored in each of the first three innings off of Eagles starter
Chris Jordan. The Warhawks would also score in the fifth and six before the Eagles plated three runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Andrew Hotze drove in a run on a single, and
Kyle Bock drove in two more with a single of his own. Hotze, Bock, and
Brandon Villanueva had multi-hit games for BenU.
The Eagles are back in action on Friday at 4:00 p.m. ET (3:00 p.m. CT) at the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex in Auburndale, Florida for a single game against Endicott College. Live stats and live audio will once again be available.
