BELOIT, Wis. - The Benedictine University men's lacrosse team suffered a 15-10 defeat at Beloit College on an icy surface Wednesday evening.
Beloit scored the first three goals of the game and after Benedictine rallied to tie the contest 4-4 at the end of the first, the hosts tallied six straight goals in the second to gain separation. Four different individuals scored for Benedictine in the rally with
Andrew Zmijewski evening the score on an even strength tally.
Trailing 11-5 at the half, Benedictine fell behind 14-6 early in the fourth before the Eagles scored four of the final five goals in the game to pull closer.
Benedictine outshot Beloit 38-30 in the contest. Zmijewski scored three times in the contest with
Stephen Link adding a pair.
Jeffrey Smitheram recorded seven saves in goal.
Benedictine (1-1) will host Olivet on Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. The contest was initially scheduled to be played in Michigan last week but was moved due to field conditions.
