Box Score LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University baseball team scored in six consecutive innings to post a 9-3 non-conference win over Elmhurst on Thursday night.
Elmhurst opened an early 2-0 lead as the first four hitters if the game collected hits against starter
Ty Anderson. Anderson settled in and did not allow another run the entire game, leaving runners at second and third in the first.
Benedictine rallied in the bottom of the first to tie the game.
Mike Luschen delivered a game-tying two-run single with two outs. The Eagles promptly took the lead in the second as
Nick Fillmore recorded an RBI single after
Max Oppenheimer doubled to open the frame. Benedictine scored in every inning until the seventh, opening an 8-2 lead.
Anderson worked 6.1 innings to earn the win.
Jake Andrews and
Dylan Smith combined to finish out the contest. Benedictine bashed 14 hits in the game.
Kevin Hendricks finished 4-for-5 while
Tim Hendricks and Oppenheimer picked up three hits apiece.
Tim Hendricks and Oppenheimer posted the lone extra base hits with a triple and a double. Fillmore also notched two hits.
Benedictine (9-10) returns to conference action on Saturday with a 12:00 p.m. doubleheader against Wisconsin Lutheran at home.
