Box Score CHICAGO, Ill. - The Benedictine University baseball team halted a five game losing streak with a 9-5 road win at the University of Chicago on Wednesday afternoon.
Benedictine used a pair of three-run innings to open a 9-1 lead and did not look back.
Brandon Villanueva posted a two-out two-run single in the top of the second to make the score 4-1. Single runs came across in the third and the fifth prior to the second three-run outburst to provide distance.
Ryan Mullin drilled a two-run homer in the sixth as part of the rally. Chicago scored four unanswered but could pull no closer than the final margin.
Nick Diessner earned the win with six innings of work. Benedictine laced 17 hits in the game. Mullin finished 4-for-5 with three RBIs.
Benedictine (3-9) will host Robert Morris at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The game time has been moved up an hour to attempt to beat the forecasted weather.
