Box Score 2 LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University baseball team rallied in both ends of a doubleheader to sweep Concordia Wisconsin in the opener of conference play.
GAME ONE: BENEDICTINE 6, CUW 5 - 12 InningsBenedictine struggled to get the bats rolling early but rallied from down 2-0 to force extras and scored four times in the 12th to erase a three-run margin.
Concordia starter Joel Sharon did not allow a hit until the fifth inning. Trailing 2-0, Benedictine finally scored in the sixth.
Ryan Mullin singled, stole second, and scored on a
Kevin Hendricks RBI single. The Eagles evened the game in the bottom of the ninth on a sacrifice fly from
Brandon Clark.
The late portion of extras became frantic as the visitors scored three times in the top of the 12th. Benedictine scored rapidly in the bottom of the frame to walk off with the win. Two runs scored on an error before
Justin Kovalsky singled home a pair to end the game.
Mike Irgang took a no decision in the start, tossing 6.1 innings and allowing just two runs.
Jozef Palasiewicz worked 4.2 scoreless innings of relief.
Kevin Hendricks and
Max Oppenheimer logged two hits each as Benedictine finished with seven.
GAME TWO: BENEDICTINE 7, CONCORDIA WISCONSIN 6Five runs in the final two plate appearances erased a four-run deficit as Benedictine recorded the sweep.
Clark opened the scoring in the second contest with an RBI double in the bottom of the first. Concordia Wisconsin came back with four third inning tallies to lead 4-1 and held a 6-2 lead after six. Back-to-back doubles opened the seventh to score a run before Mullin nailed a two-run homer. Benedictine won the game with two runs in the eighth.
Tim Hendricks knocked home the first with an RBI single while
Erik Callaghan accounted for the go-ahead run with a sacrifice fly.

Chris Jordan returned to his old form with 4.2 near flawless innings out of the bullpen in place of starter
Ty Anderson. Jordan struck out four to win for the first time this season.
Tim Hendricks and Mullin led a 14-hit parade with three each.
Benedictine (5-9, 2-0) faces MSOE at home on Sunday afternoon in a 1:00 p.m. double. The contests were moved from Wisconsin.
