LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University men's lacrosse team dropped a key contest to Augustana College 12-5 on Saturday afternoon.

Kyle Wagner scored with 9:37 left in the first quarter to even the score. Augustana responded with back-to-back goals to move ahead 3-1. The Vikings did not trail the rest of the contest. Twice Benedictine was able to pull within a goal but four consecutive goals from the end of the second into the third allowed the visitors to gain separation and take hold of the fourth slot in the conference. The top four teams qualify for the conference tournament.

Five different individuals scored for Benedictine in the defeat. Jeffrey Smitheram stopped 15 shots in goal. Benedictine scored twice on man-up opportunities and won 11-of the-21 faceoffs.

Benedictine (7-4, 3-2) hosts MSOE at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
