Box Score 2 HOWARDS GROVE, Wis. - Holly Haberkorn tossed a perfect game in the second contest as the Benedictine University softball team rebounded with a sweep of Lakeland on Sunday.
GAME ONE: BENEDICTINE 3, LAKELAND 1Melissa Guzior struck out eight in a complete game effort and Benedictine rallied to take the opener.
Trailing 1-0, the Eagles rallied with two fourth inning runs to take the lead.
Nikki Powers drove home both runs with a two-run single.
Kailee Cable added an RBI single in the fifth to provide insurance. Eight different individuals collected hits in the opening win.
GAME TWO: BENEDICTINE 10, LAKELAND 0 - FIVE INNINGSHaberkorn stole the show in the circle but the bats came out in the second contest as well, leading to a shortened decision.
Haberkorn retired all 15 batters and struck out seven to pitch a perfect game. Benedictine scored at least two runs in each of the first three innings to provide all the run support Haberkorn would need.
Sarah Koch lifted a sacrifice fly in the first and Cable added a solo homer. The second broke open the game as Benedictine scored five times.
Chelsea White and
Kelly Mieszala notched two-run doubles in the frame with Koch adding an RBI single. Haberkorn helped herself with an RBI triple in the third and
Amanda Straka added a sacrifice fly.
Benedictine posted nine hits in the perfect game. Haberkorn and White picked up two apiece.
Benedictine (12-7, 6-2) hosts Aurora on Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
