Box Score MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Benedictine University softball team will play in the NCAA Championships for the fourth straight season after sweeping through the NACC Tournament with a 5-2 win over regular season champion Aurora.
Trailing 1-0, Benedictine put four runs on the board in the top of the third to take control of the contest.
Chelsea White opened the inning by drawing a walk and
Erin Kotlarz followed with a bunt single. With one away,
Sarah Koch notched a two-run single to put Benedictine ahead.
Nikki Powers extended the lead with a two out two-run single. Aurora pulled within 4-2 in the bottom of the frame, but Benedictine padded the lead with a seventh inning insurance run when Powers singled home
Holly Haberkorn with two outs.
Haberkorn earned the win by throwing a complete game. Kotlarz and Koch notched three hits each in the win as Benedictine posted 12.
Kailee Cable and Powers collected two apiece. The Eagles were swept by Aurora in the regular season but posted two wins over the Spartans in the conference tourney.
Benedictine (32-11) will enter the NCAA Tournament with a 13-game win streak. The selection show takes place at 9:00 a.m. on Monday to find out the opponent and destination for Benedictine, who has gone to three different sites in as many years.
