Baseball Rallies Past Rockford to Stay Alive

MEQUON, Wis. - The Benedictine University baseball team staved off elimination at the NACC Tournament by rallying to an 11-6 win on Friday morning.

Benedictine trailed 5-1 but struck for sixth in the eighth and four more in the ninth to steal the victory. Tim Hendricks led off the game with a double and scored when Brandon Clark tripled with two outs. Rockford retaliated immediately, scoring four times in the bottom of the inning to open a 4-1 lead. The advantage stretched to 5-1 in the sixth.

Nick Fillmore produced a two-run single to open the six run eighth inning. Tim Hendricks, Ryan Mullin, Kevin Hendricks, and Max Oppenheimer all drove home runs in the inning. Kyle Bock drew a bases loaded walk in the ninth. Mullin stroked a two-run single, and Kevin Hendricks also added to the lead.

Chris Jordan started and threw six innings. Jozef Palasiewicz earned the win with three frames. Eight different individuals notched hits for Benedictine, led by three from Tim Hendricks. Kevin Hendricks added a pair to go with two RBIs. Mullin knocked home three runs.

Benedictine (23-17) awaits the loser of Concordia Wisconsin and Dominican in another elimination contest at 4:00 p.m.
