LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University women's soccer team opened conference play by shutting out Wisconsin Lutheran 1-0 on Saturday.
Benedictine made the most of an early opportunity, striking for the game's only tally.
Allison Lambert headed home a corner kick from
Danielle Melotte in the 15th minute. Benedictine recorded six shots in the first half.
Maddie Frye made a save in the final seconds to keep the Eagles ahead at the break.
Wisconsin Lutheran tested the defense in the second half. Frye stopped six shots in the second half and finished with eight saves in the shutout, keeping the early goal as the difference.
Benedictine posted 12 shots in the win.
Jackie Elzakhem notched three with two on goal. The Eagles put six shots on goal in the decision.
Benedictine (2-6-1, 1-0 NACC) continues conference action with a home contest against Dominican on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m.
