LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University women's soccer team dropped a conference contest for the first time this season, falling 4-0 to Dominican on Wednesday night.
Dominican put together a couple of early chances but
Maddie Frye kept the game scoreless at the start for Benedictine, making a pair of saves in the first 13 minutes. Benedictine produced three shots around a pair of corner kicks. Two of the shots came from
Jackie Elzakhem. Dominican opened the scoring in the 18th minute on the finish of a long run. The visitors extended the lead by finding the back of the net three times in just over seven minutes. Benedictine had a few frantic chances late in the first but could not break through.
The second half was not as frantic with neither team scoring. Frye stopped four Dominican attempts in the second half. Dominican held an 18-10 advantage in shots with 12 coming in the opening 45 minutes. Frye finished with seven saves in the contest.
"I was proud of the way our team responded after a rough first 45 minutes," said Head Coach
Mike Boland. "We did not get the result we wanted, but we can draw off the positive from the second half heading into Saturday's match."
Benedictine (2-7-1, 1-1 NACC) travels to Edgewood on Saturday afternoon to continue the conference slate with a 4:30 p.m. contest.
