LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University women's basketball team rebounded from the first conference defeat of the season by handling Concordia Wisconsin 69-53 at home on Saturday afternoon.
Benedictine led for most of the contest, but most of the first half was close.
Nicole Botich tied the game with a layup at the 8:52 mark. The basket was the first of a 16-2 run which saw Benedictine open a double-digit advantage.
Elizabeth Skaggs handed the Eagles a 19-17 edge with a jumper.
Vincenza Ranallo finished the spurt with a fast break basket, making the score 31-19 with 4:42 to play in the first. Benedictine shot 50 percent from the floor in the opening half of action and led 35-26 at the break.
The Eagles netted the first four points and the second half and built a 16-point lead. Ranallo deposited a jumper with 15:31 remaining to make the score 46-30. The visitors cut the lead to 10 points at 46-36 with 14:19 left but could pull no closer.
Benedictine attempted just one three-pointer the entire contest, focusing on the inside game in shooting 50 percent for the contest and scoring 34 points in the paint. The Eagles also held a 36-30 advantage on the glass. Ranallo led all scorers with 24 points, the third performance of 20 or more points.
