RIVER FOREST, Ill. - The Benedictine University men's basketball team continued a busy week by rolling to a road win at Dominican by a final of 84-61, shooting a season high 63 percent.
Benedictine led wire-to-wire in the game, scoring the first five points of the affair. Holding a 19-13 lead with 11:25 to play in the opening half, Benedictine struck for eight consecutive points.
Michael Blaszczyk tallied five points during the stretch, helping the lead reach 27-13 with 8:48 remaining. The hosts were able to battle within 10 points, but the Eagles extended the advantage to 46-23 on a
Tim McGinty jumper. Benedictine led by 22 at the break, playing a near perfect 20 minutes, which featured 60 percent shooting.
The lead continued to swell in the second half as Benedictine performed even better from the field. Dominican could not pull closer than 20 points and a pair of free throws from
Tim Reamer with 6:11 to go handed the Eagles a 72-41 lead.
Four players scored in double figures for the contest, led by 16 from
Tahron Harvey. McGinty notched 14,
Adam Reynolds 12, and Reamer 11. Reynolds has scored in double figures three of the last four contests. Benedictine received 31 points from the bench and tallied 44 points in the paint. The Eagles held a 26-24 advantage on the glass and converted on 22-of-24 free throws.
Benedictine (10-6, 8-3 NACC) will be on the road again Saturday afternoon against Marian.
