Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Eagles Battle Falcons

MEQUON, Wis. - The Benedictine University women's volleyball team battled with undefeated Concordia University-Wisconsin in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference action on Friday night. The Eagles fell to the Falcons in four close sets.

Benedictine 1, Concordia-Wisconsin 3 (25-23, 25-27, 15-25, 23-25)

THE DETAILS
• The first set was back and forth early on. After tying it at 20, the Eagles scored two quick points but CUW rallied to tie it at 23. A Beckie Whitmarsh kill gave BenU game point and a CUW error gave the Eagles a 25-23 win.
• Despite tallying 10 kills in the second set, BenU trailed 10-4. They tied it at 25 with a Vanessa Possidoni kill but two Falcon kills sealed their 27-25 victory
• Benedictine's momentum slowed in the third set. They trailed early on and could never regain a lead, falling 25-15
• Benedictine had a game high 14 kills in the fourth set. Down 22-19, BenU would win four of the next five points but a Concordia kill ended the match, 25-23
• The match saw 22 ties and nine lead changes
• CUW is now 7-0 in NACC action and 14-7 overall

STAT LEADERS
• Erin Wiegand tallied a season high and led all players with 17 kills
• Whitmarsh recorded seven kills
• Four players had double-figure digs: Kristina Billie (33), Possidoni (17), Kelcey Adams (16) and Alyssa O'Boyle (12).
• Ashley Karsten tallied four aces and four block assists

FROM THE COACH
"I am happy with our performance for the most part with how we battled ," said head coach Jennifer Wildes. "I think we got better tonight even though it might not show with the result. We had a hard time getting kills but we defended well."

UP NEXT
It's homecoming on Saturday, October 17 as Benedictine welcomes Edgewood College for a 12:00 pm contest in the Dan and Ada Rice Center. The Eagles are now 9-13 overall and 4-3 in NACC action.
