Women's Hoops Drops Shootout

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University women's basketball team dropped a 104-88 decision at North Central College in the final game before break.

THE DETAILS
• North Central runs a women's version of the Grinnell system and is one of the top scoring teams in the nation
• Benedictine scored the first four points of the game on baskets from Nicole Botich and Briana Hamilton before North Central embarked on a 14-0 run to grab a 14-4 lead
• The deficit reached 13 in the opening quarter as North Central led 23-12 after the first quarter
• From down 12 in the second quarter, Benedictine battled within three points but trailed 44-38 at the half
• Trailing 59-49 with 4:25 left in the third, Benedictine scored 11 in a row to take a 60-59 lead
• Raven Willis opened the run and a three-point play from Botich with 2:30 left put Benedictine in front
• North Central pulled away in the fourth quarter by scoring 32 points to collect the win
• The loss stopped an eight-game win streak

STAT LEADERS
• Benedictine attempted just three three-pointers in the entire contest
• Despite allowing a season high point total, Benedictine limited North Central to just 36.5 percent shooting including 27.8 percent in the first half
• Benedictine held a 72-53 advantage on the glass, furthering one of the top rebound margins in the nation
• North Central scored 46 points on 41 Benedictine turnovers while Benedictine scored 66 points in the paint
• Willis and D'Asia Williams each scored a game best 18 points as four players reached double figures
• Both Willis and Williams came off the bench
• Botich scored 15 while adding eight rebounds and Tayler Walker collected 10 points
