Women's Hoops Rolls on Senior Day

LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University women's basketball team capped the home portion of the schedule with a 62-34 win over visiting Dominican on Senior Night.

Benedictine did not trail in the contest. The Eagles scored seven straight after Dominican evened the game at 2-2, opening a 9-2 advantage. Michelle Batty, one of five seniors honored before the game, opened the run with a three-pointer. Dominican was able to come back within three points and hang around for most of the first half as Benedictine struggled from the field. Two free throws from Jasma Williams pushed the lead to double digits at 30-19 with 2:16 left in the first. Benedictine held a 34-22 lead at the break despite shooting just 33.3 percent from the field.

Benedictine quickly gained some distance by striking for the first seven points of the second half. Williams tallied three straight before four in a row from Shannon Ryan made the score 41-22 at the 17:35 mark. The visitors never pulled closer than 16 points the rest of the way while the lead reached 31 points late. Dominican made only three shots in the second half.

Williams led all scorers with a career best 14 points. Nicole Botich added 12 points and eight rebounds. Benedictine used 16 players in the game and held a 61-33 edge on the glass. The bench contributed 37 points.

Benedictine (15-8, 15-3) will play the final two games of the regular season on the road beginning with a Saturday night contest at Lakeland.
