Box Score On Friday, the Benedictine University baseball team opened the 2015 season against 10th-ranked UW-Stevens Point at the Lake Myrtle Complex in Auburndale, Florida. BenU fell 11-4 to the Pointers to move to 0-1 on the young season.
The Eagles started the contest out strong, plating the game's first three runs. In the first inning, Benedictine loaded the bases to start things off, with 
Justin Kovalsky, 
Kyle Bock, and 
Tim Hendricks all reaching base. Two batters later, 
Nick Severino hustled down the line to beat out a potentially inning-ending double play, allowing Kovalsky to score from third on the fielder's choice to move BenU on top 1-0.
Benedictine would have its best offensive inning of the game in the second. 
Andrew Hotze was hit by a pitch to start the inning, and after 
Erik Callaghan bunted him over the second, 
Matthew Higgs doubled to move Hotze to score. Both runners would move up on a balk, with Hotze scoring BenU's second run. Kovalsky then singled in Higgs to put BenU up 3-0. 
The Eagles and starting pitcher 
Cody Netzel would coast through the fourth inning. In the fifth, UW-Stevens Point plated six runs, all of them coming after two outs. The Pointers would score one in the seventh and four more in the eighth to move up 11-3. Benedictine scored once more in the ninth on a 
T.J. Floyd RBI single. 
Benedictine takes the field again tomorrow in the Sunshine State, as a doubleheader againse Greenville College is up next. The games will begin at 8:30 a.m. central time at the Chain of Lakes complex in Winter Haven, Florida.
