DALLAS, Tex. - The Benedictine University women's lacrosse team opened their spring break trip by falling to the University of Dallas 13-7.
Dallas opened the game by scoring four times.
Nikki Gullett broke up the stretch with a goal on a feed from
Gabby Rowe with just 10:45 left in the first half.
Becca Gullett followed less than a minute later, bringing Benedictine within 4-2. Dallas closed the half with three straight goals to lead 7-2 at the break.
Samantha Link opened the scoring in the second half, finding the back of the net with 26:53 remaining, making the score 7-3. The hosts again responded, notching four consecutive finders to open an 11-3 advantage. Benedictine scored four of the final six goals, but could pull no closer than six the rest of the way.
Benedictine recorded 17 shots in the contest and scooped 17 groundballs while tallying 17 draw controls.
Hannah Smith made 15 saves in goal.
Becca Gullett was the only player to score more than one goal, finishing with two. Gullett also recorded nine draw controls. Rowe led all players with eight groundballs.
Benedictine (0-5) plays at Oklahoma Baptist on Tuesday afternoon.
