MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Benedictine University men's lacrosse team scored seven unanswered goals in the second half to rally to a 10-8 win over Huntingdon in their spring break opener.
After falling behind 1-0 in the first,
Corbin Gett tallied consecutive goals to hand Benedictine a 2-1 lead.
Tony DePinto made it 3-1 with just over four minutes to play in the opening quarter. Huntingdon netted five unanswered goals in the second to take a 6-3 lead into halftime and added another early in the third to move in front 7-3.
David Blanco opened the string of seven unanswered goals, scoring with 10:50 to play in the third.
Eric Orndorf tied the game with 3:57 to play in the third and put Benedictine ahead for good with a finder early in the fourth.
Benedictine finished with 26 shots and 38 groundballs.
Jeremy Voyda played the entire game in goal, making 13 saves. Gett netted three goals with DePinto and Orndorf scoring two each. DePinto pikced up five groundballs with Gett adding four.
Rudy Berg won 10 faceoffs and gathered a game best nine groundballs.
Benedictine (3-2) plays at Birmingham Southern on Wednesday.
