The Benedictine University men's volleyball team dropped a three-game match to #15 Dominican University on Wednesday night in Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League play.
Benedictine (7-14, 4-8 MCVL) trailed early in the first set and could not recover, falling 25-14. Despite tallying 10 kills in the second set, Dominican (13-10, 8-4 MCVL) caught fire offensively, recording 15 kills and just six errors to win 25-18.
The Eagles once again trailed in the third set, but powered back late to come within one (22-21). A Dominican kill and an ace gave the Stars set point but an
Eric Tarnow kill put BenU back within two. Dominican ended the set with a kill, 25-22.
Tarnow and
John Mathews led the Eagles with seven kills each while
Markus Riemer had a team high 20 assists and nine digs. Benedictine had seven team blocks, 3.5 from
Lewis Stein.
Benedictine continues MCVL action this weekend when they host #8 Carthage College at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 28 in the Dan and Ada Rice Center.
