LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University men's lacrosse team notched a 13-5 win over Southwestern University on Friday night, claiming a fifth consecutive victory.
Eric Orndorf netted the first goal of the contest on a feed from
Corbin Gett with 13:28 in the opening quarter.
Tony DePinto opened a string of six straight goals by finding the back of the net with 6:43 left in the first. Benedictine led 3-1 after the first.
Blake Keenan capped the run with a goal from
Dominic DePinto with 3:29 to go in the first half, making the score 7-1.
Tony DePinto netted the final goal of the half, putting Benedictine ahead 8-2.
Southwestern pulled within 9-4 early in the second half before four consecutive goals put the game out of reach. Orndorf opened the stretch. Orndorf and
Corbin Gett scored four goals each. Benedictine won 17 faceoffs.
Benedictine (7-2) returns to conference action on Wednesday afternoon at Concordia Wisconsin. Concordia was picked to finish ahead of Benedictine in the preseason poll.
