LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University women's lacrosse team dropped a 6-5 decision to Elmhurst College on Friday night.
Gabby Rowe handed Benedictine an early 1-0 lead. Rowe put home a feed from
Samantha Link with 28:22 left in the first half. Elmhurst scored back-to-back goals to take a 2-1 edge before Rowe struck again with 20:34 remaining in the half to tie the score. Elmhurst netted consecutive tallies to lead 4-2, but Benedictine was able to even the score headed into the half with two goals from
Becca Gullett.
The visitors took the lead with 22:27 to play and extended the margin to 6-4 just before the halfway point of the frame. Gullett struck with under eight minutes remaining to inch Benedictine closer, but could not even the score.
Benedictine finished with 17 groundballs in the contest and converted on 11 clears including a near perfect first half.
Hannah Smith stopped five shots in goal as Benedictine managed 10 for the contest.
Benedictine (0-8) hosts Concordia Wisconsin on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
