The Benedictine University men's volleyball team fell to Lakeland College in four sets on Wednesday night in Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League action.
Benedictine (4-11, 2-6 MCVL) trailed early in the first set, allowing Lakeland (10-9, 5-3 MCVL) to record 15 kills and win 25-19. In the second set, the Muskies took a commanding lead en route to a 25-12 win.
The Eagles offense came alive in the third set, taking a 7-5 lead early on. Lakeland rallied back and after both teams traded points BenU came out on top, 20-17. The Eagles would take a 24-19 lead but the Muskies did not give up, tallying five straight points to tie it at 24. Both teams traded kills until
Lewis Stein ended the game, 31-29 to force a fourth set.
Lakeland would go on to tally 12 kills in the final set to win 25-16.
Sterling Glover led the Eagles with 11 kills and had 10 digs,
Eric Tarnow tallied seven kills while
John Mathews had six kills.
Ian Thompson recorded a team high 14 digs and
Markus Riemer had 13 digs and 32 assists.
Benedictine men's volleyball travels to Kenosha, Wisconsin to take on #11 Rivier College on Saturday, March 7 for an 11:00 a.m. contest.
