LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University men's lacrosse team scored a 14-7 win over Olivet on Friday afternoon.
Benedictine took control of the contest in the second quarter after overcoming a pair of deficits in the first.
Andrew Zmijewski tied the game at 1-1 with 10:58 to play in the first. Trailing 2-1,
David Blanco put home a pass from
Tony DePinto to tie the game in the final minute of the first.
Corbin Gett put Benedictine ahead for the first time early in the second quarter. Trailing again at 4-3, Benedictine ripped off five consecutive goals to take control. Zmijewski evened the score with 8:14 left in the second quarter and
Blake Keenan put Benedictine ahead with 6:22 left. Benedictine held a 6-4 lead at the half.
Three goals in the final five minutes of the third enabled Benedictine to take a 11-5 lead into the fourth. Benedictine held a 44-20 advantage in shots.
Jeremy Voyda played the entire game in goal, making five saves.
Keenan and Blanco scored three goals each. Gett notched two goals and added two assists while recording 11 shots. Zmijewski and
Eric Orndorf each scored twice.
Benedictine (2-1) returns to action on Wednesday night at Augustana.
