LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University women's lacrosse team played one of the final non-conference games of the season, dropping a 14-4 decision to Augsburg.
The first half was extremely competitive.
Becca Gullett opened the scoring with a goal at the 26:27 mark of the first half. Augsburg followed with consecutive goals to take the lead.
Samantha Link scored on a free position attempt with 19:36 left to tie the score. Down 3-2, Gullett tied the game again with 4:12 to play in the opening half. The goal started a frantic finish to the half. Following back-to-back goals in the final 1:15,
Nikki Gullett poked home a feed from her sister as time expired to bring Benedictine within 5-4 at the half. The Eagles did not score in the second as Augsburg netted nine unanswered to run away with the win.
Becca Gullett finished with seven shots in the contest, scoring twice. Gullett also added a groundball, two caused turnovers, and four draw controls.
Hannah Smith made 11 saves in goal.
Benedictine (1-10) returns to conference play on the road Wednesday night at the Illinois Institute of Technology.
