LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University baseball team dropped an 8-2 non-conference decision at home to North Park University on Wednesday night.
North Park scored in six different innings in the contest, keeping the Benedictine bats at bay. The first pitch of the game was a solo homer as the visitors scored twice in the first inning and led 6-0 after seven innings.
The Eagles were able to bring the tying run to the plate in the eighth but could get no closer.
Justin Montalvo was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to force home a run while
Andrew Hotze scored on a wild pitch in the frame. Benedictine used eight different pitchers in the game. Only
T.J. Floyd threw longer than an inning.
Tim Hendricks led off the game with a single for Benedictine and the bats did not record another hit until the seventh. Hendricks would also single in the two-run eighth. The hit marked the 228th of his career, tying Mike Kowalewski for the most in school history.
Benedictine (15-17) returns home to face Marian in a conference doubleheader on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. The seniors will be honored before the contest.
