Box Score The second-seeded Benedictine University softball team took on the third-seeded Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons on Saturday morning, needing to win three cosecutive games on Saturday to capture the NACC Tournament title. CUW ended the Eagles' chances, downing the Eagles 7-1 and eliminating BenU from the tournament.
Concordia's offense jumped out to a fast start against BenU starter
Holly Haberkorn (14-8), scoring four runs through the first two innings.
Melissa Guzior relieved Haberkorn in the third, but after the Falcons scored two quick runs,
Katie McKay summoned to pitch the rest of the contest and allowed just one unearned run through five innings of work.
At the plate, BenU tallied just five hits, with the lone run coming in the third inning courtsey of a
Chelsea White RBI groundout. White (1-for-3) and Grasz (2-for-3) both doubled.
Jenna Boyajian (1-for-3, run) and
Shannon Fritsche (1-for-3) also recorded hits.
The Eagles will now wait to see if the team is selected for the NCAA Division III Tournament as an at-large. Selections will be announced early next week.
