The Benedictine University women's volleyball team lost their first two games of the season on Friday night at the Aurora University Jim Coleman Memorial Classic. The Eagles fell to Simpson and Central College.
The Eagles (4-2) tallied 26 kills in the first match with
Emily Chitwood leading the team with seven kills ad 13 digs.
Kara Epping and
Erin Wiegand each tallied five kills while
Kristina Billie recorded 20 digs and two aces.
Vanessa Possidoni and
Caitlyn Martin each had 10 digs in the Eagles 3-0 loss (11-25, 20-25, 17-25).
In the second match, BenU won the first set impressively, 25-14 and recorded 10 kills on just two errors. But Central rallied back to take the next three sets (25-14, 17-25, 16-25, 24-26). Wiegand led the attack for the Eagles with seven kills while Epping had six kills and zero errors. Billie had a team high 14 digs with three aces while
Kelcey Adams had 22 assists and 13 digs.
Benedictine continues play in the Jim Coleman Memorial Classic on Saturday morning when they take on Wheaton College (Mass.) at 10:00 am and the University of Chicago at 2:00 pm.
