THE DETAILS
•
The opening 45 minutes of action was played even with neither team scoring a goal and both teams mustering seven shots
• Aurora dictated the pace early in the second half, breaking through on a second consecutive corner kick in the 52nd minute
• The visitors built the lead to 3-0 with goals in the 65th and 85th minutes
• Zoie Holloway connected on the lone goal for Benedictine by curling a blast from 20 yards out past the keeper on a setup from Daniela Nieto
• Aurora (6-2, 3-0) has won nine consecutive conference titles and was predicted to win a 10th in the preseason poll
• The loss marked the first in conference play for Benedictine and brought to an end a three-match win streak

FROM THE COACH
"Solid first half from us," said head coach Mike Boland. "The second half we were under it a bit, but certainly had some moments of momentum. They have a special player, which at the end of the day, was the difference. Although we played decently well in stretches, we can't be content with moral victories and playing well in stretches. We want results. This group is eager."

STAT LEADERS
• Aurora out-shot Benedictine 8-3 in the second half and finished the contest with a 15-10 advantage
• Aurora's All-American Nicci Bermudes netted all three goals
• Nieto led Benedictine with four shots
• Danielle Melotte added three shots with Holloway notching two
• Maddie Frye made two saves in net

UP NEXT
Benedictine (5-5, 2-1) continues the conference slate with a 3:30 p.m. affair at Lakeland on Saturday
