Volleyball Falls to Concordia-Wisconsin

Benedictine University women's volleyball took on the top team in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference on Friday night, falling to Concordia University Wisconsin in three sets.

THE DETAILS
• Benedictine trailed the entire first set after allowing Concordia Wisconsin to go on a 5-0 run to take a nine point lead – Benedictine came within three but it wasn't enough as they fell 25-18
• The Eagles took an early lead in set two and had a two-point advantage down the stretch after a Claudia Schmidt block put BenU up 22-20 – Several CUW kills tied the match at 25 and after a back and forth battle the set ended with a CUW block and kill
• Benedictine took a commanding 9-1 lead in set three that saw four BenU aces, three from Kristina Billie – Concordia slowly crept back in the game, tying it at 12 and the Eagles found themselves in familiar territory
• The CUW offense caught fire as they took a 21-19 lead and never looked back, winning 25-21
 
THE STAT LEADERS
• Taylor Dunwell led all players with 14 kills while Alyssa O'Boyle had 16 assists and six digs
• Kelcey Adams recorded 10 digs and 12 assists and Billie led all players with 18 digs and four aces
• The team statistics for both teams were fairly even: CUW had the edge over BenU in kills, 38-34 while both teams tallied 57 digs – The Eagles edged the Falcons in blocks, 6-3, while BenU had eight aces and CUW had seven

UP NEXT

Benedictine women's volleyball, now 10-13 overall and 4-3 in NACC action, travel to Edgewood College for a 12:00 p.m. contest on Saturday, October 15. The Eagles then take on Wisconsin-Stevens Point at 2:00 p.m.
