Women's Volleyball Knocks Off MSOE

The Benedictine University women's volleyball team won their fourth straight match on Friday night, defeating Milwaukee School of Engineering in straight sets in Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference action.

THE DETAILS
•Benedictine tallied 15 kills and hit an impressive .424 in the first set victory
•Tied at seven, MSOE went on a 5-0 run to take a commanding lead but kills from Emily Chitwood and Kara Epping cut the deficit and gave BenU the momentum to go on and win 20-16
• Benedictine trailed most of the third set but aces from Kristina Billie and Kelcey Adams put BenU back on top en route to a 25-22 win
• The Eagles are on a four-game winning streak
 
THE STAT LEADERS
• Epping led the team with eight kills and a .438 hitting percentage while also tallying two block assists
• Taylor Dunwell had seven kills for a .368 hitting percentage
• Adams had 20 assists, six digs and three aces while Billie had 20 digs and four aces
• As a team, Benedictine recorded 35 kills, 53 digs, six blocks and nine aces
 
FROM THE COACH
"Over the last two weeks we did what we needed to do," said head coach Jennifer Wildes. "We went 4-0 and focused on getting better every day. We have a really tough week coming up and we are looking forward to seeing where we are at. I am really proud of the work we have put in since the NACC/IIAC Crossover Challenge."
 
UP NEXT
Benedictine, now 10-11 overall and 4-1 in conference play, returns to NACC action on Tuesday, October 11 when they travel to Aurora University for a 7:00 p.m. contest.
