LISLE, IL - The Benedictine University men's soccer team reached the NACC Championship for the first time in program history by shutting out Aurora University 2-0.
THE DETAILS
• Benedictine created the first chances but could not put one past the Aurora keeper on attempts from three different individuals
• Nick Kapetanos hit a post and a
Pedro Parra attempt was saved
• Aurora missed on a pair of chances before Benedictine finally struck
• Kapetanos, tabbed as the NACC Offensive Player of the Year, fired home a free kick from 25 yards out in the 19th minute for his 25th goal of the season
• The goal found the bottom right portion of the net
• Benedictine did not settle for a single tally, keeping the pressure on Aurora

Aldreiron Smith collected a blocked attempt and blasted home a 30-yard shot to extend the lead with his fourth tally of the year
• Benedictine held a 2-0 lead at the break
• Neither team was able to score despite repeated attempts in the second half
• Benedictine won both meetings with Aurora by a combined score of 8-0

"This was a great win for the Benedictine Soccer family," said head coach
Attila Schmidt. "It was so nice being able to share the moment with so many former players and alumni. A wise man once told me that you can only win a championship if you are playing in a championship game. Our young men's efforts tonight have given us the opportunity to compete for a NACC championship on Saturday."
