Women's Hoops Cruises to Fifth Straight Victory

LISLE, IL - The Benedictine University women's basketball team did not trail in rolling to a fifth straight win, downing visiting Edgewood College on Saturday afternoon.

THE DETAILS
•
An administrative technical enabled Benedictine to take the lead before any time ticked off the clock
• Benedictine netted the first 12 points of the game, as a three from Venita Parsons pushed the edge to 12-0 6:47 to play in the opening quarter
• Samantha McCarthy deposited a layup to push the edge to 17-2 just before the mid-point of the game
• Bennita Drain connected on a jumper at the three minute mark to extend the lead to 25-5 as Benedictine held a 28-8 lead after one quarter
• Edgewood scored the first seven points of the second to pull within 13 before Georgia Alexakos ignited a 7-0 run with a three-pointer
• Benedictine connected on six first half three-pointers and scored the final five points of the half to lead 51-20 at the break
• The second half allowed for varying rotations and a 9-0 run midway through the third pushed the lead to 70-28 on a transition bucket from Casey Williams
• Benedictine led by 51 after three quarters and saw the lead reach 55 in the final 10 minutes
• The advantage was under 50 points just three times in the final frame
