Women's Hoops Knocked Off at Alverno

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Alverno College scored the final four points to knock off the Benedictine University women's basketball team on Tuesday night in Wisconsin.

THE DETAILS
• Benedictine led the entire first quarter, scoring the first five points of the game
• Venita Parsons netted the first basket of the game and Payton Sims made a three-pointer on the next venture up the floor
• Sims made another three-pointer with 6:30 left in the first to extend the lead to 11-4 before Alverno scored the final six points of the quarter
• Alverno scored the first eight points of the second quarter to extend the run to 14-0, making the score 18-11 with 7:51 left in the first half
• Raven Willis was able to tie the score just before halftime with a layup, making the score 26-26
• Trailing by four points, Sims converted on a layup to open a 9-2 run which enabled Benedictine to open a 37-32 lead late in the third
• The fourth quarter was tight as neither side could gain control
• Jasma Williams evened the game at 49-49 with 2:01 remaining, but Benedictine did not score again
• The game featured seven ties and nine lead changes

STAT LEADERS
• Benedictine made only nine field goals in the second half and finished the game shooting just 29.9 percent
• Sims led all scorers with 13 points, one off her career best
• Williams finished with 11 points off the bench and added nine rebounds
• Alverno held a 44-39 advantage on the glass

Benedictine (15-9, 12-7 NACC) rounds out the regular season on Saturday night at Lakeland in a game to determine the fifth seed in the conference tournament
