Men's Volleyball Rolls Past Fontbonne

LISLE, Ill. - The Benedictine University men's volleyball team continued their Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League win streak with a sweep of Fontbonne University on Saturday afternoon in the Dan and Ada Rice Center.

THE DETAILS
• With the score tied at three in the first set, back-to-back kills from Sterling Glover and Zach Loeding gave Benedictine a lead they never lost. Fontbonne threatened to tie it but three straight Glover kills secured the Eagles 25-22 win
• In the second set, the Eagles tallied 15 kills for a .393 hitting percentage while Glover tallied 10 of those kills. Benedictine went up by as many as seven en route to a 25-18 win
• The third set saw Benedictine go up 8-0 that included three points off the hand of Jon Mueller as the Eagles would go on to win 25-15
• The match saw just eight ties and six lead changes

STAT LEADERS
• Glover led all players with 21 kills, a career high. The sophomore outside hitter only had one error in the match in 26 attempts for a .769 attack percentage
• Mueller ended the match with six kills while Loeding had three kills and three block assists
• Kyle VanStedum had seven kills and zero errors for a .778 attack percentage
• Markus Riemer recorded 37 assists and nine digs while Ian Thompson, the reigning MCVL Defensive Player of the Week, tallied a game high 10 digs
• Benedictine hit a season high .330 in the match that included 44 kills and just 14 errors. The Eagles also tallied 41 digs and five blocks

Benedictine, now 11-5 overall and 6-0 in the league, take a break from conference play to travel to Saint Xavier University on Thursday, February 25 for a 7:00 p.m. match.
