Men's Volleyball Extends Win Streak to Five

CHICAGO, Ill. - The Benedictine University men's volleyball team extended their win streak to five games after a 3-1 victory over non-conference opponent Saint Xavier University on Thursday night.

THE FINAL
Benedictine 3, Saint Xavier 1 (25-19, 25-18, 21-25, 25-20)

THE DETAILS
• Benedictine led the entire first set, including taking a six-point lead after a Jon Mueller kill en route to a 25-19 win
• The Eagles tallied 13 kills and a .310 hitting percentage in the second set despite trailing early on. Benedictine tied it at nine with a Zach Loeding kill and never looked back, winning 25-18
• Benedictine was up 3-0 but allowed Saint Xavier to go on an 8-3 run and then tied it at 20. The Eagles would only score one more point as SXU went on to win the third set 25-21
• The fourth set saw BenU trail 2-0 but would tie it at 12. After the teams traded points the Eagles went go up 21-20  and would score the next four to win 25-21. Benedictine tallied 14 kills and hit .360 in the final set

STAT LEADERS
• Loeding had 10 kills with just two errors while tallying four block assists
• Both Mueller and Sterling Glover had 11 kills with Mueller recording five block assists
• Kacper Mazurek had nine kills and Markus Riemer tallied 42 assists, five kills and 11 digs
• Ian Thompson led the defense with 13 digs

The Benedictine men's volleyball team takes a break from conference play this weekend. The Eagles return home on Friday, March 4 when they host #14 MSOE at 7:00 p.m. in the Dan and Ada Rice Center.
