Women's Lacrosse Improves to 2-0 in MWLC

WAVERLY, Iowa - The Benedictine University women's lacrosse team moved to 2-0 in conference play with a win at Wartburg College on Monday afternoon.

THE DETAILS
• Benedictine opened the scoring with a goal from Samantha Link five minutes into the contest
• Wartburg scored back-to-back goals to lead for the only time at 2-1
• Two additional goals from Link enabled Benedictine to hold a 3-2 edge at the break
• Both goals came in the final 6:30
• The goals were part of a six-goal run as Benedictine netted the first four tallies of the second half to lead 7-2
• Two consecutive goals brought the visitors within 7-4 before Link scored again to leave no doubt about the outcome

STAT LEADERS
• Link, who scored seven times on Saturday to set a school record, added four goals in the win on 12 shots
• Nikki Gullett tacked on a pair of goals
• Hannah Smith played the entire game in net, making seven saves
• Benedictine held a 23-16 edge in shots
