Softball Sweeps in Florida

CLERMONT, Fla. - The Benedictine University softball team moved to 7-3 overall with a sweep on Wednesday. The Eagles defeated St. Norbert College and Buffalo State.

THE DETAILS
• Benedictine took an early lead in the first, 1-0, before tallying another run in the fifth to make it 2-0
• St. Norbert would tie it in the bottom of the fifth and would force extra innings. The Eagles tallied two runs in the eighth for the win
• Shannon Fritsche was 2-3 with two runs scored
• Holly Haberkorn picked up the win, allowing two runs and one walk with three strikeouts in eight innings

THE DETAILS
• Kailee Cable tied the game in the second with a solo homerun to center field
• In the fifth, Jenna Boyajian doubled down the left field line, scoring Fritsche. Melissa Stoch followed with a sac fly to center field, scoring the second run of the inning
• After both teams remained scoreless in the fifth, the Eagles tallied one more run on another Stoch sac fly to give the Eagles the 4-1 victory
• Melissa Guzior had the win for BenU, allowing six hits with three strikeouts in seven innings

Benedictine softball plays their final two games of the Florida trip on Thursday. First up is Hendrix at 4:00 pm CST followed by a 6:00 pm CST game against Washington and Jefferson.
